A career without limits

As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

The role: Global Caterer Performance Manager

Our Global Catering Operations team plays a vital role in delivering the experience our customers expect from British Airways, wherever they are flying from around the world. Behind every onboard meal and catering service is a complex global operation, bringing together our catering partners, supply chain, safety and security standards, operational performance and customer expectations.

As Global Caterer Performance Manager, you’ll be at the heart of that operation, acting as the key account manager for our overseas catering partners. You’ll build strong relationships with suppliers while ensuring they consistently deliver against British Airways’ exacting standards for quality, safety, customer experience and operational performance. It’s a varied role where you’ll combine supplier management, operational expertise, commercial thinking and data to challenge performance and continually improve how we deliver for our customers.

What you’ll do:

  • Act as the account manager for overseas catering suppliers, providing a clear focal point for activity relating to your allocated stations and caterers.
  • Oversee British Airways catering and supply chain standards, conducting both onsite and remote audits.
  • Drive catering performance against customer satisfaction, punctuality and key performance indicators.
  • Ensure British Airways food safety and security standards are embedded throughout catering operations.
  • Manage the tracking, resolution and reporting of catering incidents and quality issues.
  • Lead the caterer performance programme, ensuring audits robustly assess operations including supply chain and galley packing.
  • Regularly review supplier results and lead annual performance reviews with caterer leadership teams.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and data for caterer action plans.
  • Work across teams to ensure operational templates and manuals remain up to date.
  • Manage wastage and offload check programmes, identifying service failures and opportunities to deliver savings.
  • Support contracting, finance and supplier governance activity to ensure services are appropriately managed and monitored.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

You bring strong operational and supplier management experience and the confidence to challenge suppliers constructively to achieve the right outcomes. You’re commercially minded, comfortable working with data and financial information, and able to use negotiation and influencing skills to drive performance.

You’ll be calm and confident when dealing with disruption or a crisis and bring a strong understanding of safety, security and operational risk. Your experience will be evident through your knowledge of food safety, HACCP, catering or food manufacturing environments, alongside an understanding of culinary processes and menu development.

You’re someone who looks for better ways of working rather than simply accepting the status quo. You combine a flexible, can-do approach with the ability to communicate and present confidently, building productive relationships across British Airways and with our external partners.

Your experience:

  • Ideally, a degree in a finance, commercial or aviation-related subject.
  • Lead Auditor trained.
  • Advanced Food Safety (HACCP) qualification.
  • Experience managing airline operations, specifically within inflight catering.
  • Strong operational and supplier management experience.
  • Crisis management experience, including awareness of Business Continuity Planning.
  • Knowledge of airline safety and security management systems and risk management frameworks.
  • Experience of culinary processes and menu development within a mass-production and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Commercial and procurement experience with strong negotiation skills.
  • Financial analysis experience, including invoice checking and financial reconciliation.
  • A strong understanding of the airline or hospitality sector and the factors that influence customer experience and brand loyalty

What we offer:

We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play. It’s one of the reasons our rewards go far beyond a competitive salary.

From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.

At British Airways you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress.
