Celebrating women across British Airways

How we marked International Women’s Day 2026.

Last week, British Airways colleagues celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) – an opportunity to recognise the achievements of women, champion gender equity and reflect on the power of allyship across the airline.

Led by WINGS, our Women’s Inclusion Network Group for Success, the week celebrated this year’s theme, Give to Gain, and highlighted the impact that women make every day at British Airways. Through advocacy, community and action, WINGS helps foster connection, learning and support across our global teams.

A week of events

We kicked off the week with a high‑energy opening session at Waterside Theatre, where senior leaders and industry speakers shared powerful stories of leadership, allyship and personal growth. Colleagues across British Airways and IAG joined virtually and in person, helping set the tone for a meaningful week of celebration and conversation.

We continued with a vibrant women‑led business showcase, a roadshow at the T5 Crew Report Centre and an inspiring Engineering event at Manston – each sparking new conversations, fresh ideas and real momentum.

All‑female flights

One of the highlights of the week was the operation of five all‑female flights on Sunday 8 March – a milestone demonstrating collaboration across our entire operation.

From Flight and Cabin Crew to Heathrow Above and Below Wing, colleagues played a key role in making these flights a success. Behind the scenes, teams across Operations and Engineering ensured everything ran smoothly from start to finish.

To mark the occasion, each Flight Crew member wore special IWD epaulettes, with an additional set gifted onboard to a young girl travelling on each flight – a gesture designed to inspire the next generation of women in aviation.

Recognising colleagues

Throughout the week, colleagues shared reflections on what International Women’s Day means to them, alongside hundreds of Above & Beyond messages recognising women throughout the airline.

Across our network, our colleague recognition platform Above & Beyond was used to spotlight women making a difference in every part of British Airways.
