The role: AIRPORT MANAGER MUMBAI (BOM)
Our Airport Managers are at the forefront of our global operation; the role is as diverse as the customers we serve and the destinations we fly to.
As Airport Manager Mumbai (BOM) you will be accountable for delivering safety, security, customer, punctuality and finance targets.
You will be expected to closely lead your team demonstrating excellent people leadership skills, along with our suppliers ensuring that they deliver on behalf of British Airways, our customers, and ensuring that any shortfalls are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
This role also requires you to represent British Airways with key stakeholders including key government departments, airport operators, Trade Unions and our trusted suppliers.
What you’ll do:
You will commit to achieving the highest standards of safety and compliance and these are maintained at your airports; including adherence to all applicable regulatory structures and processes and contribute to the airlines safety management system.
You will ensure all audits are completed and any required follow up is actioned in a timely manner.
Our customers should receive the highest levels of customer service at all touch points and that any shortfalls are dealt with in an appropriate and timely manner.
Your airport performance will strive to achieve annual punctuality metrics and contribute to your clusters overall operational performance.
As airport manager you will be prepared to handle disruption including the ownership and creation of business continuity plans and emergency plans.
You will ultimately be accountable for your teams performance in BOM airport, ensuring your teams are empowered to make customer and operationally focused decisions and truly make our valued customers feel welcome whether arriving into India or leaving for destinations around the world via London, utilising our extensive network and that of the OneWorld Alliance.
Our airport managers work closely with Regional Airport Managers to conduct and supervise investigations across areas such as – Safety, Security, People, Customer, Internal Control, Operations.
Our leadership teams around the world identify opportunities and drive revenue generating initiatives working together with Regional Airport Managers, Airport Managers, colleagues across India, The Maldives, and the wider Worldwide Airports community to drive continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, best practice, pushing boundaries and learning.
In this role you will own the relationships between British Airways and operational stakeholders including Ground Handling Suppliers, Airport Authorities, Airport Operators Council, local and governmental authorities, British Embassies and High Commissions etc. You will also ensure that communication between internal and external stakeholders are maintained and act as the ‘eyes and ears’ for British Airways in your location.
There is an expectation you will deputise for the Regional Airport Manager and other Airport Managers when necessary.

- Is a decision maker and problem solver sometimes with limited information and tight deadlines.
- Has a desire for self-development, learning and a passion for excellence.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills in a range of different situations.
- Understands airport operations, both above and below the wing.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and their application in an airport environment.
- Experience of managing and/or leading change using recognised change management principals
Your experience:
- Previous airline management experience is desired
- Degree education level or higher
- High standard of spoken and written English required
- Must be able to obtain an airside pass in India
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
