The role: Product Owner-Payments
Join our Commercial Directorate at British Airways as a Payments Platform Product Owner and play a critical role in shaping the future of payments at BA. This position offers an exciting opportunity to deliver strategic and operational value by driving the development of our payment platform and influencing key initiatives across the business.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and own core components of our payment platform, identifying opportunities to deliver operational and strategic value.
- Drive the creation, prioritisation, and maintenance of payment product backlogs, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Contribute to the payment vision for British Airways, building and managing roadmaps to deliver innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with payment partners and technical teams to define robust, scalable requirements and translate these into actionable features and user stories.
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of features, ensuring readiness for live implementation and seamless integration with business stakeholders.
- Partner with selling channels and the wider Payments Team to leverage insights and analysis, driving backlog priorities to achieve cost-saving and revenue-generating objectives.
- Actively participate in cross-functional projects, providing expertise and leadership to ensure successful outcomes.
What You’ll Bring to British Airways:

- Proactive decision-making abilities, using data and insights to guide prioritisation and strategy.
Your Skills and Experience:
- Experience leading teams in dynamic digital product environments, with a focus on agile delivery.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the payments ecosystem and familiarity with cutting-edge payment products.
- Proven expertise in tools like Jira, Confluence, and Product Board or similar platforms.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.

- Deep understanding of the payment ecosystem and what makes a merchant ‘best in class.’
- An agile mindset with a proven track record of delivering payment transformation programmes that meet cost, revenue, and operational efficiency targets.
