The role: Material Controller Team Leader
To plan all material requirements from fully scoped maintenance inputs to the unscheduled/AOG demands across the engineering MRO Business
What you’ll do:
- Actively manage and develop team members.
- Coach, lead, manage and develop the team to deliver exceptional service & achieve KPls.
- Agree and measure challenging targets, achieving these through process improvement, working across team boundaries and within a self-learning culture.
- Ensuring compliance with Engineering Policy, Statutory Airworthiness requirements, Safety Standards, Company Standing Instructions and Health and Safety Legislation. Manage the repair and overhaul of material within internal workshops and subcontracted suppliers.
- Manage budgets ensuring total cost of ownership. Plan and manage the material requirements for Aircraft and Programmes modifications.
- Ensure all quotes, scrap and exchanges are actioned in the Service Centre teams as well as actioning of planned orders and purchase orders.
- Ensure all customer requirements are actioned accordingly.
- Be the focal within the Commercial & Supply Chain organisation for the ownership & escalation of all critical/AOG material issues.
- Evaluate potential suppliers and take responsibility for subsequent sourcing decisions.
- Maintain the contractual arrangements that exist with suppliers, seeking opportunities to reduce complexity, reduce costs and improve services for your category.
- Ensure the value negotiated in any contract is maintained through its life by continual assessment of current available data, making changes as required through contract agreement reviews.

- Proven procurement experience.
- Proven inventory management experience.
- Demonstrable ability to identify root cause issues and deliver effective solutions.
- Supplier management experience.
- Project planning and management.
- Self-motivated and a self-starter.
- Coaching & interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate effective presentation, written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Long term problem solving.
- IT and SAP literacy, and particularly MRP Customer focus.
- Ability to manage spend within budget.
- Innovative and adaptable to the management of change. Strong leadership skills, ability to always motivate and lead team
Desirable Qualifications:
- Formal business-related qualification to HNC / HND or equivalent experience.
