The role:
Nominated Person Crew Training
Chief Pilot Training will take overall responsibility for ensuring that the training functions and activities of the Air Operations department remain compliant to the appropriate requirements. To act as Head of Flight Training for the BAEF Approved Training Organisation (ATO), should BA Euroflyer gain this accreditation. To manage the department within agreed budgets and relevant Company and regulatory standards. To be accountable to the Managing Director as AOC Nominated Person Crew Training and for ensuring compliance with the statutory Quality and Safety requirements relating to the operation of aircraft and the training of crew. To provide the framework for training policies, standards and resources to meet the technical, operating and safety standards laid down by the Operating Standards Group for BAEF. Also, if/when applicable, to manage effectively the assets of the ATO, retaining the requisite approvals.
What you’ll do:
- Provide effective people management to develop team capability, direct performance towards organisational goals, ensuring the standards of all colleagues meet the requirements of the organisation and ensure an adequate training programme is in place as appropriate for each area.
- Lead the BAEF Training Team, delivering world class operational and customer service standards, meeting operational targets, while ensuring a safe and secure operation.
- Responsible for ensuring processes are cohesive, fit for purpose, continuously improved and documented with clear procedures.
- Accountable for developing a strategic training plan to include annual training plans, ensuring all crew are compliant with regulations and procedures.
- Monitor the standards of proficiency of all flight crew and cabin crew within the fleet and ensure the required proficiency standards are maintained, and co-ordinate training resources for flight operational requirements for current and future fleets.
- Co-ordinate training resources for flight operational requirements for current and future fleets.
- Manage outsourced services, ensuring all SLAs are met or exceeded. Negotiate with third party suppliers as required to ensure contracts are appropriate and deliver good value to BAEF.
- Represents BA Euroflyer within other areas of the BA and IAG business, ensuring that BAEF has appropriate visibility and support from the mainline business.
- Build and own the team budget to ensure effective service provision and cost control, constantly reviewing and implementing changes to support the business plan.
- To oversee the accurate and timely completion of crew training records.
- Support the Fleet Manager People in ensuring effective internal development and succession processes.
- Support the wider Air Operations Team as required including but not limited to first line management of crew, offering support with day-to-day crew queries and acting as a point of contact for Air Operations.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Ability to build strong relationships with team members and other departments.
- Ability to challenge current working practices.
- Ability to motivate, coach and develop others, delegate effectively and manage performance management cycle.
- To assist within the Air Operations department with Line Management.
- Ability to make sound and logical decisions under pressure
Your experience:
- ATPL
- Type Rating Examiner (A320 Type Rating will be provided if required)
- Educated to degree level or equivalent (Desirable)
- Previous Post Holder (Desirable)
Salary Range: £72,000- £80,000
