A place for every original
Each and every one of our colleagues bring something different. A culture. A story. An experience. A perspective. At British Airways, those differences are part of what makes us who we are.
Throughout the year, there are moments that give us the opportunity to celebrate them together. From Pride and Black History Month to Diwali, Eid, International Women’s Day, Disability History Month, and so much more; colleagues across our airline come together to celebrate, connect, reflect and learn.
Some moments are big and colourful. Others give us time to pause, listen and understand. But each is an opportunity to discover something more about the people we work alongside.
Celebrating what makes us, us
Across the year, that comes to life in all kinds of ways. Colleagues have joined Pride marches across the UK, while Black History Month has brought people together through live music, cultural performances, food and local vendors. For South Asian Heritage Month, an open mic night created a space for colleagues to share stories, poetry, music and experiences. And all-female flights have celebrated International Women’s Day, recognising the contribution of women across aviation and inspiring future generations.
There are opportunities for reflection too, with occasions such as Remembrance Day, creating space to learn and deepen our understanding of one another.
The communities behind the moments
Behind many of these celebrations are our colleague-led networks and faith societies. With around 5,000 memberships, they bring colleagues and allies together to connect, share experiences, celebrate identity and support one another. Yet, their contribution doesn't stop when an event ends.
Our networks and faith societies bring valuable lived experience and different perspectives into British Airways throughout the year. Working closely with our Inclusion & Diversity team, they've helped inform areas including accessibility, workplace facilities, onboard experiences and services, helping us think about inclusion in the everyday experiences of our colleagues.
Find your place
However our colleagues choose to get involved, there's space to listen, learn, connect and contribute for us all. Belonging isn't about everyone being the same. It's about creating a place for every original.
