The role:

People Business Partner

Your role will be to partner the British Engineering Wales leadership teams to influence the development and delivery of a people strategy to contribute to the overall success of the business. Working alongside the leadership team, you will help support the delivery of an ambitious transformation plan, leading on organisational development, design and change management ensuring the business is set for up future development and growth. Your role will include leading a small onsite people team, who work collaboratively with the centres of excellence and the wider People directorate.

Please note that this role is offering both permanent and fixed term contract opportunities. Please advise if you would like to be considered for a fixed term or permanent position (i.e. Fixed Term Contract / Permanent).

What you’ll do:

You will work in collaboration with senior leaders across the business, providing support, coaching and challenge to deliver actions that will drive improved organisational performance. As part of this, you will review business and people performance, challenge the status quo using data driven insights and create a constructive tension to ensure we are role modelling our business values. You will be accountable for the delivery of the HR foundation and lifecycle events throughout the calendar year and lead the onsite team through this critical activity.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

Insights driven - adopt a disciplined approach to understanding and diagnosing problems, and then use a range of evidence from a variety of sources to develop people insights. Use this insight to challenge the way we think about people in our organisation and inform change, driving better business decision making. Evaluate the impact of all projects in order to inform future practice.

Digital Working - understanding the digital environment, the role of technology and the impact it has on people and the people function.

Professional courage and influence – show professional and personal courage to speak up when it’s the right thing to do, even if in the face of resistance or opposition. Skilfully influence others in a range of situations, including making a case for change, taking responsibility for mistakes, and challenging the behaviours of others.

Commercial Drive - apply a business and customer focused approach. Demonstrate the commitment and resilience to deliver results that create business value. Deliver the people plan with an emphasis on those areas that will have the greatest impact.

Situational Decision Making - effective and pragmatic decisions that take into account the specific situation or context. Avoids a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach but in doing so, still ensures alignment to the principles and values outlined in the people and business strategies. Remain flexible enough to adapt to new insight, circumstances or changes.

Your experience:

If this role sounds for you, then we are looking for a hardworking individual who has:

  • Experience of working in a generalist HR, a HR centre of excellence, or people leadership role (essential)
  • Experience of working in a complex and matrixed business (preferred)
  • IR experience (essential)
  • CIPD (essential)

This role will be based at BA Engineering Wales (next to Cardiff Airport) and travel to other BA sites (including Glasgow and Heathrow may be required)
